My Favorite Kind of House
Here in our little factory towns in central Indiana, we have a large population of retirees who are downsizing the homes they’ve raised families in to live a more simple life. When that happens, I get excited—not because of the inevitable wheel of time turning on and on—but because I get to photograph a little piece of a families history. Sure, shiplap and minimalism is all well and good, but there is just something about photographing homes that look like the grandkids just left that makes my heart so happy.
A Single Lady’s Dream House in New Castle, Indiana
This house was so beautifully decorated! I could have just moved right on in myself! I think I’ve mentioned in here before—okay, I know I’ve mentioned here before—but I love, love, LOVE, these adorable small houses!!! The alternate universe me who isn’t married and needing to board several family members would totally live here. Heck, I might even invite my alternate universe husband over—just as long as he wasn’t insistent on his own office :P
Not a Farm, Farm Drive | Greenfield Indiana Real Estate Photography
Ah, I love a neutral house. Okay. I love ALL houses but a grey and white color scheme does make editing so much easier. I was super jealous of this house with it’s dedicated office just off of the living room and the fact that it was five minutes away from the interstate. Ya’ll know how much I drive. Interstate access is a must over here. I know who ever snapped this up will be very happy!

MLS Listing Photography in Broad Ripple, Indiana
I’ve been branching out more and more towards Indianapolis this last year and it was nice to get to photograph this older home on the northside of Indy. Some people chase those million dollar new construction listings, but I am perfectly happy in my little niche—photographing houses that have character and history. Just look at this tri-level beauty. That downstairs den. They don’t make them like this anymore.
The House on Grant Street
I not-so-recently photographed this cute little house on Grant Street in Frankton Indiana. It was a perfect three bedroom ranch just a block away from the school so you know it got snapped up quick. That doesn’t mean that I’m not going to post about it! In fact, it’s the perfect opportunity to mention my style of photography. You might notice that my photos are different than some other real estate photos you’ve seen. I photograph in away that makes the lighting of a home look natural and more like you took it. Thanks to everyone’s favorite pastime of looking at homes we can’t afford on Zillow, the general public has gotten savvy to the pro photography trick of blending a billion flash layers so every shadow and window is the same lighting as the rest of the room. They can spot a fake-ly lit house from a mile away. My method is more natural…and a lot faster to shoot—which means a lot cheaper on your pocketbook.
A New AirBnB in Anderson, Indiana
I’ve photographed this house three times along its journey to becoming an adorable home away from home. Before, during, and after completion, it never stopped being one of my favorites of the year. These little houses are Anderson’s bread and butter—the suburbs of factory workers and days of long pasts. Houses that made up a community of workers that are now getting older and moving on to the next chapter in their lives. I will take one of these babies over our current suburb anytime! Give me simple floorplans and glass doorknobs any day of the week please!
A Little Blue House | New Castle Indiana Real Estate Photography
I was so happy when I got an email about this house. At the time, it was really hard to find a property under 100k and I just know that both the buyers and the sellers of this one got an excellent deal!
MLS Listing Photography in Muncie, Indiana
Another house fixed up and ready for it’s new owners! Whether or not you are buying your first home or if you are looking to pick up a rental property, this is an excellent choice! I absolutely love that they went with the butcherblock countertops here. These kinds of renos make me so happy. I always imagine the memories that are going to be made inside those newly painted walls <3
A Mustin Condo is FOR SALE in Anderson, Indiana
I photograph social media progress photos for Mustin Builders—a local builder that has been an Anderson staple for many, many years—and it’s always fun to get to photograph one of their well-established (aka, old) properties going up for sale. (If you can call 2001 old—my historic 1915 house would like to have a word) These condos are meticulously maintained. I’ve never seen one in bad shape. Although I may be a little bit biased—you just can’t say that about some of these newer housing additions that care more about speed than quality.
South Main Village is a beautifully maintained, well-established neighborhood in Anderson in a great location. There are a lot of retirees living here after downsizing to places with a single level so you know your street is going to be well looked after! haha. Every time I drive through there, I am jealous of the quiet streets and perfect sidewalks to take morning (or evening) walks. Compared to my bustling downtown neighborhood, this is the quiet, slow-paced, grass is greener alternative.

Bringing a House Back to Life in Alexandria, Indiana
One of my favorite realtors specializes in buying properties that need a little love and then bringing them back to life. I always love to see the transformation and this one was no different. Once again, an excellent laundry / mud room really caught my eye. I had no idea how much of a selling feature that was until I owned my own home. Why do I drop everything in my hands on the floor right by the door when I come in??? I’d love to have a separate space for all my coats, boots, and camera gear that inevitably takes up half of our living room :P
The House on the Hill is FOR SALE in New Castle, Indiana
One of my favorite parts about being a real estate photographer is getting to see so many unique houses. Yes, new construction has its perks—mainly low repair costs—but there is just something about a wall of closet doors and radiant heating that will always make my heart do a little happy dance. So, when this beautiful house came up on my calendar I was so excited to photograph it! From the first moment I walked through that red front door until I left down the winding driveway, I was so happy to get to see this beautiful home.
This New Castle House for sale is:
531 Hawthorn Street New Castle Indiana | Listed by New Castle Real Estate Agent Cara Huffman at FC Tucker Crossroads New Castle
Here are some agent details on the property:
Here is your chance to own a beautiful home that you've always admired. A four bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home sitting on top of a hill, with over two acres, makes this home impressive. Being an avid arborist, the Seller has meticulously maintained and improved the landscaping for years, leading to a beautiful outdoor presence. Updates include windows, roof, electrical, and paint. When you walk in the front door you will notice a large living room with built-ins, fireplace w/granite surround, and two french doors leading to the screened porch that is simply dreamy. The family room is surrounded by beautiful windows and features a wood burning fireplace and original tile floor. The impressive dining room sets a great first impression for guests. The large kitchen features natural light, ample cabinet space, built-ins, two sinks, and updated appliances. You will love the charm of the breakfast nook located just off of the kitchen. Walk up the beautiful staircase to the large, stately master bedroom with ample closet space, its very own gas fireplace, and newly remodeled en-suite. Three more bedrooms and a full bathroom on the second level, as well as a walk-up attic space that would make a wonderful play room. There is an attached garage and a very nice, usable basement. The outdoor living space opportunities for this home and property are endless! This home is truly a classic beauty.
A Little Slice of Heaven in New Castle, IN
This house went pending in no time but I still got to show it off! I love the layout with the connecting family room, dining room, and kitchen. And don’t even get me started on the connecting bedrooms. So smart! In my five years of photographing houses, I’ve never seen rooms connected this way. They are almost always connected by sharing a bathroom. Of course, you just shut the doors when you don’t want to see your siblings anymore, ha!
MLS Listing Photos in New Castle, Indiana
Is it cliché to say that I want to buy so many of the houses I photograph? Because, I say it a lot. This one, however. Oh boy. I can see why it barely lasted twenty-four hours live because it. was. fabulous! Not only was it a ranch style house with space, but it also had a sauna, a den, a bar, AND a fitness/sunroom. When I say that I died for this house. Whew. Does anyone know if builders are building ranch style houses anymore because I’m about to request that and then use this floorplan :P
An Adorable First Home
Look at this! I am a sucker for a hardwood floor—even if its got a little paint on it. This adorable three bedroom in Edgewood would be the perfect starter house or income property. That fireplace is awesome and I am even loving the room with the wood paneling. I would definitely put my office in there! Houses are selling fast around here and with Edgewood being such a highly sought out neighborhood, I’m sure this one will be pending in no time <3
MLS Listing Photography in Anderson, Indiana
These are my absolute favorite houses to photograph. Anderson is full of them thanks to many years of factory jobs. We have whole neighborhoods full of these simple little two - three bedroom homes that are perfect for families just starting out or individuals who like to have an office. There is something to be said for simplicity. I am so lucky that I get to see so many of these wonderful properties brought back to life and enjoyed again.
MLS Listing Photos for 5th Street Middletown, Indiana
Another historical house that I wished I could buy. * Le Sigh * The perils of being a real estate photographer. That sunroom would make a wonderful little natural light photography studio. Its for the best though, I saw this is already pending so the new owners will love it just as much as me.
4816 Stratford Drive Anderson, Indiana
I grab updated shots for Mustin Builders once a week for their Facebook Page and I always love seeing their finished products. The layout that has the office up front with the french doors. *Thumps up. And, once again, I find myself jealous of a garage.
1807 East 10th Street Anderson, Indiana Real Estate Photos
This house! I always laugh with my agents and tell them that every house I photograph I want to buy, but this one was really true. I am so glad that someone else sees the potential in fixer uppers and brought this place up to modern standards. Not pictured was a whole workspace in the back that would have been a great photography studio.
